Difference Between SSAW And LSAW Steel Pipes

The manufacturing process is very different.

SSAW steel pipe has a unique manufacturing process. In our production, the strip steel is formed by spiral bending, and then the gap is welded by submerged arc automatic welding. In the whole process, the rolling of steel strip is like a precise dance. Through the cooperative operation of a series of advanced equipment, the steel strip is ensured to be wound at an accurate spiral angle, and then the weld is firm and uniform through an efficient welding process. This process enables us to produce large diameter steel pipes with narrow steel belts, which greatly improves the utilization rate of raw materials and reduces the production cost.

The production process of LSAW steel pipe is completely different. We first pre-bend the steel plate to make its edge have a certain radian, then roll the steel plate into a tube and then weld it. Every process is strictly controlled, from the selection of steel plate to the accuracy of pre-bending, and then to the quality of welding, every link can not be lost. The straight seam characteristics of the steel pipe produced by this process make its dimensional accuracy extremely high, and both the outer diameter and the wall thickness can be kept within a very small tolerance range.

Product characteristics are different.

From the appearance, the welding seam of SSAW steel pipe is spiral, which is its most obvious sign. The weld of LSAW steel pipe is straight and concise. In terms of mechanical properties, SSAW steel pipe, due to its characteristics of spiral weld, has a relatively uniform stress distribution at the weld under internal pressure, and has good fatigue resistance, which can adapt to some scenarios that have certain requirements for pipeline flexibility.

LSAW steel pipe, by virtue of its straight seam characteristics, performs well under axial tension and bending stress. The integrity of the steel pipe is stronger, and the quality stability of the weld is higher, which can meet the requirements of some projects with extremely high requirements on the strength and stability of the steel pipe. For example, in the construction of high-pressure oil and gas pipeline, LSAW steel pipe has become the first choice for many large-scale projects because of its excellent performance.

In the application field, SSAW steel pipe is widely used in low-pressure fluid transportation pipelines such as water and gas because of its cost advantage and good flexibility. For example, SSAW steel pipes can often be seen in urban water supply and gas supply systems, which contribute to the basic livelihood security of the city with stable performance.

LSAW steel pipes are more widely used in high-pressure and long-distance pipelines such as oil and natural gas, and some large-scale engineering structures that require extremely high quality steel pipes.
